Program Description:
Established in 2011, in memory of Prof. Herbert Deresiewicz, a long time SEAS faculty member and department chairman who held a deep and abiding love for undergraduate teaching, the Herbert Deresiewicz Summer Research Fellowship provides support for a Columbia College or SEAS student who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and whose interest in science has been kindled by his or her experience at Columbia.  The recipient will engage in full-time laboratory research on the Morningside Heights campus in one of the following Columbia University academic departments: biological sciences, biomedical engineering, chemistry, or chemical engineering.

The recipient will receive a stipend of $5,000 and be invited to the Columbia College Academic Awards and Prizes Ceremony in May.  Extended housing to attend the ceremony will be provided.

Applicants must ensure that a letter of support from a faculty member is submitted by the deadline, personally committing to mentor the applicant during the fellowship period.

To apply: Complete your application here (by clicking 'Start an Application') and have your letter of recommendation submitted by your Faculty Mentor directly to ogpfellowships@columbia.edu no later than the deadline stated.
