Program Description:
Fulbright Grants for Study and Research Abroad provide for one year of academic study or research in one of over 135 countries around the world, other than the U.S.  Most grantees plan their own programs.  Projects may include university coursework, independent library, lab, or field research, classes in a music conservatory or art school, special projects in the social or life sciences, or a combination.

Fulbright Grants for English Teaching Assistantships Abroad provide placements for one year in secondary schools and universities, where grantees contribute to English-language instruction.  ETA grants are offered in over 60 countries around the world, other than the U.S.  Recipients are expected to propose small research projects or community engagement activities beyond their teaching responsibilities.

Candidates for all Fulbright Grants must be U.S. citizens, possess a Bachelor’s degree by the start date of their program, be in good health, and have proficiency in the language of their host country sufficient to conduct their project.

To apply through Columbia: After completing this questionnaire, open and complete your official application through the Fulbright portal. The internal deadline for Campus Committee Evaluation (required for current undergraduates) is September 11, 2017. The national deadline for alumni applying “at large” is October 6, 2017.
