Overview - Columbia Summer Program in Venice

Thank you for your interest in the Columbia Summer Program in Venice! For students interested in summer 2016, the application materials and program details are not yet finalized. Most program information will be available by the end of fall 2015 term, though there still may some details outstanding. Please click "Start an Application" on bottom of the Apply page (see left) to register your interest in the program with the Office of Global Programs and fill out a short Pre-Application questionnaire. Once you are registered with our system, we will notify you via email when all application components are finalized. We will also notify you of any information sessions and/or events with returned program participants.

The Department of Art History and Archaeology and the Department of Italian offer a six week summer program based at Ca' Foscari University in Venice. The program uses an interdisciplinary approach to understanding Italian culture and society through study of its language, literature/film, art history and conservation, and economy and the opportunity to gain a deeper appreciation of the rich Venetian culture, traditions and history.
The program takes place from the beginning of June to mid-July.
  • Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate student in good academic standing. Graduate students and post-graduates may also apply
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Minimum 3.0 average language GPA for courses taught in Italian
  • No previous Italian language or other background is required for some courses
