IFAP Global Health Research for Undergraduates

On On Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 5:10 pm in 603 Hamilton Hall, please join us for an information session about the IFAP Global Health Research for Undergraduates Program. Jointly sponsored by the Office of Global Programs and the Columbia University Medical Center, the program combines coursework and independent study with a team-based research project at one of three international sites in the Dominican Republic or Haiti. The program aims to enable select undergraduate students with interests in global health to join graduate student teams carrying out research in association with local healthcare organizations. Students in the program will also have the opportunity to enroll in two credit-bearing global health courses at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons (P & S) and pursue an independent study based on their summer research project with a faculty mentor from P & S.

Dr. Stephen Nicholas and Dr. Rafael Perez-Figueroa, OGP staff and IFAP program alumni will be at the info session to present this exciting new opportunity. Applications from all CC/SEAS/GS undergraduates are welcome. Program costs including flights, accommodation, meals, excursions, and placement fees range from approximately $2900 to $4300.  The Office of Global Programs works with applicants to research and guide applications for fellowships to cover costs. Please also consult the Office of Global Programs website for more information about eligibility and application instructions.
