Program Description:

The Bard-Smolny Summer Language Intensive is designed for those who want to have an immersion experience from the intermediate through the advanced level.  Students can choose four or eight-week programs.  All students are expected to sign a language pledge and speak Russian only throughout the experience.  Students live in homestays.

The program includes 22 hours of class per week, daily quizzes and written assignments, and weekly tests. Class sizes are small (typically 8 to 10 students) with course work that emphasizes vocabulary acquisition, grammar comprehension, reading improvement, and writing achievement, as well as verbal and aural precision.

Program Features

Students have the opportunity to participate in a Russian theater or choir.  The program provides tutors and language partners to ensure the most progress in the language possible. Cultural excursions round out the experience.

All students should consult the OGP eligibility page to ensure that they meet all specific academic requirements for each school (CC, GS, SEAS) to study abroad.
